Road trip to the Loire Valley- third part

ChenonceauPlanning your next vacation ?!  Well here is an idea for a perfect day on the Loire Valley in France. If someone had just one day to visit the Loire Valley, these should be the things to see: Chenonceau Castle, Chaumont Castle , Blois-city& castle and Chambord castle . Even though at the end of the day you will be tired, it’s all worth it. The next images speak for themselves.

Start early with Chenonceau castle – a long time ago a constant reason of fight between the wife of king Henry II of France (Catherine de Medici) and his mistress(Diane de Poitiers).

Chenonceau Castle was in my opinion very well organized; it had an automatic machine for tickets , brochures and audio guides available in 15 languages plus a train station close to the castle allowing you to go to Paris with the public transport.

At approximately 30 minutes from Chenonceau Castle you will find the second castle divided between the wife and the mistress of Henry II – “Chaumont sur Loire”.

I was really impressed with the domain surrounding this castle.

The castle is hidden between Blois and Amboise-where you can find the tomb of Leonardo da Vinci.

Stop for a few hours in Blois, see the castle and wonder on the streets of this coquet small city. For other information on Blois, see the previous article.

For a perfect end of the day see the giant castle Chambord situated at just 17 km from Blois. This castle was a little too big for my taste (426 rooms, of course not all of them were open to the public), but still interesting.

The castle hosts many hunting trophies belonging to the past owners of the castle, fireplaces and a double spiral staircase designed by Leonardo da Vinci.

The itinerary is ok for those who go there by car, because otherwise things can be pretty unpredictable. Pack some sandwiches , water and an umbrella to minimize the time lost .

I wish you a 2013 filled with many perfect vacations !
